Global Virtual Roundtable - 4: STEM for Sustainable Building Design

Today’s student presentations are a product of an intensive international collaboration during their summer virtual camp.  Students worked together in small teams and collaborated with peers in Brazil and the United States to create new housing design solutions.  Students developed their proposals using STEAM frameworks (that integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics).   The students’ challenge is to solve emerging housing concerns without unintentionally creating new social, economic, or environmental problems.  Intercultural and project-directed learning in a context of STEAM provides an excellent opportunity to accelerate student learning for the 21st century. Today’s event will include student presentations and short statements from scholars and experts in the fields of housing and urban sustainability.
