Global Virtual Roundtable - 2: Holistical Use of STEAM for SDGs

This round table will focus on the first two aspects of the apprenticeship: challenging student frames of reference and awareness and undertaking of a short term, intensive group activity around the concept of engagement and real-world problems.  Here we will discuss concepts of service learning, community engagement and the principles of partnerships as they relate to creating the kinds of diverse teams necessary to address some of the world’s most complex challenges. Each group of students will present their interested issues and new insights gained relevant in SDG 7, 13, or 15. Goals include encouraging students’ creativity and challenging them to think outside of the box. Students will come to understand transdisciplinary approaches to addressing these issues through the lens of service learning, a holistic approach to working with diverse stakeholders while recognizing and leveraging each stakeholder’s strengths to create a joint activity aimed at addressing an expressed need.
